I selected some photos to submit to WP Weekly Photo Challenge: Abstract.

Ben Huberman, WP editor, asks us to turn the concrete and familiar into something new and mysterious.

‘This week, find your own (proverbial?) chestnut tree. Point your camera at something familiar and turn it into something else. Whether it’s a wall in your house, a friend’s arm, or a billboard seen from afar, we may or may not recognize what it actually is. But we’ll certainly discover something else about it in the process.”

My first option is this exquisite flower (featured image), which got my undivided attention when I got a bouquet of flowers yesterday from a very dear friend. I don’t know its name, so if you know it, please leave the information at the comments thread.

The second image is a flower which was in the same bouquet. I shot them with macro lens, handheld, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to get a sharp image, so I could play with some intended abstraction.

I selected another photo which I shot from a moving car at high speed in the highway. It was a beautiful night and whilst I tried to shoot the moon, I got more interested in the ghostly effects of the trees…

Lastly, I shot a battered piece of wood.

      1. Thank you Lucile. I’ve not been around much recently, the transition from employment in big corporates to consulting has been demanding (as you know I guess) but I do intend to manage my time better so I can be here more often 🙂

        1. You’re welcome, Andy. Indeed it’s a totally different style, but you’ll get used to it in due time.
Blogging time can be scarce at times, but hey, it’s all about enjoying it when we can make time for it.

  1. Oooh… the one shot from the car is my favourite, which is odd because typically motion blur photos make me feel dizzy. This one doesn’t. Great blue colour too! I love it!

    1. Oh yes, I’ve been twice trying to shoot the moon, using tripod, etc and still not making anything I liked it. It’s a bit more complex than I thought, and my technical knowledge and lenses were not sufficient to ‘conquer’ the moon.
But I love motion blur photos and while traveling, I just played with a few shots, already planing to ditch them later. But ended up liking this one. Glad you like it too! Thanks.

  2. Tremendous Lucile. If Ben features and photos from this challenge, I have no doubt yours will be among them. I wish (as I say over and over and over again) that I had your talent for macro. And that moon shot is glorious 🌝

What do you think? I'd love to hear it all.
