Alive and Well

Hello everyone! It has been a long time since we last communicated. I have missed reading your blogs and trust you are doing well.

After an unplanned blogging break, which is taking a little longer than foreseen, I had to make choices, and not posting, was one of them.

Nothing serious happened; I am fine, and so is my family. Life got in the way! My working year just started busier than ever due to some projects and a course.

Heartfelt thanks to those who recently sent e-mails and messages here. I really appreciated it. Moreover, I felt happier for the lasting friendships we have created. They will go on, despite blogging and that’s the most important.

Thank you Terri Webster, Estelea, BadFish, @desleyjane , Lisa from Gray Days and Coffee, Lisa Dorenfest, Lifestyle with Lia, Chris Breebaart, Rosemawrites, GF-Chopstix, Leya, Sally at Lens and Pens by Sally, Janet at This and That and Other Things, phoenixgrey85, Cathy Lynn Brooks, Jill’s Scene, Writersdream9, Katieprior, Jennifer Nichole Wells, Nalinki, Julz, Anna at 76sanfermo, Debbie Harris, and Andy Townend.

It is time though, to get back to all of my followers, who have been fully supportive of this blog and challenges, and tell you what is coming next.

Given my new schedule, these are the decisions I am considering:

  • The Photo Rehab will continue but I will launch a new page on Flickr, where everyone can bring their photos, instead of using InLinkzΒ  (now discontinued). That means that the Sunday wrap up will lead you to Flickr, instead of Inlinkz, and your photos won’t be here anymore.
  • I hope you understand that there is a space limitation for access to WP’ s media library, and I have already used a substantial amount of it. For that I am wondering If I should create a separate blog just for the Photo Rehab as well.

Would you please give your opinion here:

  • Desley and I have also decided to stop the Covermakeover Challenge. It has been great fun but we have no time to do it properly. Thank you for having been a keen and loyal supporter. We enjoyed to learn from you, and appreciated your endless creativity. Kudos!
  • The challenges held by @perelincolors and @nalinki are now on hold, also due to their urgent commitments. They will decide if, and when, they will resume their activities.

Thank you! Look forward to hearing from you!

  1. Hello again Lucile, great that you are back, I know only too well how difficult it is to maintain a blogging presence when (real) life takes precedence. I’ve voted for Flickr for Photo101 Rehab, I have an account there already and I think having a Photo 101 Group would be a great way of maintaining the community so I’m in if that is the way you go!

  2. Welcome back! I missed your posts & I hope I’ll manage to get off my blogging break soon too. I will definitely join the flickr group if you make one. As an alternative to starting a second blog, you could try embedding from flickr directly – at least if you get all participants to upload their images there.

    • Hey you! Thanks. Great to be back in contact. Hope all is well and you had superb vacations. Have seen some outstanding photos….
Thanks for the support and for the alternative idea; it sounds interesting to not add an extra blog (and work).

  3. Hey luv, welcome back. I didn’t realise you weren’t there as I was hardly there myself. My bad. Life always happens, glad you are able to balance it. Well you can be sure of my vote wherever you are headed. I’ve missed you!

  4. Oh, Lucile it is so good to hear from you again. I know things come up but sometimes asking, ‘are you OK?’ seems so obtrusive. But I am glad to hear you are OK. Big welcome back hugs to you.

  5. Welcome back, Lucile! I’m glad all is okay πŸ™‚ And I’m hoping the busyness at work is a good thing for you!

Blogging is a “spare time” activity for me, and there are times when there’s none to spare!!
Looking forward to reading more of your posts, when you have the time.
    I’ve voted for Flickr, too!

    • Hi Jill, thank you for your lovely and supportive message. Good to hear from you.
It’s a good type of busyness, so all good.
I’m getting organized to return, so you’ll hear from me.
      All the best.

  6. FINALLY!! Your post is like that ray of golden light shining in the dense gray clouds. Welcome home. I voted that I wouldn’t join Flikr because I never have joined it, and wouldn’t. However, if that’s where you go…I guess I’ll have to join. Maybe I should be a little more social on social media?

    • Oh Badfish, please don’t spoil me like that. My ego boosting levels went crazy now! I’ve missed you lots too! But I thought you’d be proud of my absence. Finally not doing things the whole time ! A victory of the NOW and BEING.
Oops. I got carried way now…
I haven’t yet closed the poll so I’ll check the outcome and if flickr wins, you’ll have my 24×7 help desk support to join Flickr.
Yes, more social on social media that I use…
      Huge hug.

  7. I’ve missed you too, so am very happy to see you back πŸ™‚ it just hasn’t been the same without you but I know exactly what you mean about life getting in the way and being busy. Thanks also for the special mention – I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve that but I do appreciate it. Take care and ease back into things here, I’m glad you’ve made a few decisions and understand it’s hard to make them sometimes. Once again, welcome back πŸ™‚

    • Hi Debbie. Missed you lots.
Of course you’re special, always. And you’ve been here reading and commenting while I was away…
You’re so right. There is so much going on in our lives and although I love blogging, I needed to be more careful with the amount of time I had dedicated to it, sacrificing family time as well. As I started the year with new projects and a course that will continue throughout the year, it was here that I needed to sacrifice time instead of family time. All will come into balance soon.
Hope all is well with you and yours. Hugs.

  8. So glad you are back, Lucile, and I can see how much you were missed! These blogging relationships do extend beyond the blog! Not on Flickr but could be persuaded I suppose. I had to bail out of my weekly link up and know too well how time consuming it is! I am blogging just 2-3 days a week. My prep time for two classes this semester has been much more work than I anticipated. Blogging can be fun and a part-time leisure activity without too much stress πŸ™‚ I look forward to your lovely photos and words!

    • Thank you, Terri. I have missed the blogging relationships the most.
It looks like Flickr is the way and I won’t create another blog fit the photo rehab community. Please feel free to decide what works best for you. I do know that you don’t have time to spare and were also juggling with blogging x all other activities.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

  9. Love the picture of the clouds! Good to hear you are well. Live does sometimes get into the way of blogging, and I guess it is important to keep the priorities straight – people first, real live first, virtual reality second. πŸ™‚

  10. Hello Lucille, we’ve all definitely missed your beautiful photographs, and kind words, as you can see!
I am limited to the social media options available here, but will still follow you on WP, regardless of whether you make use of one or two platforms. Blogging is a lot of work, when you do not have the needed spare time for it, but also rewarding to be able to post something! I’ve had to cut back a lot on my posts, and comments on others, so I’m still around…just stalking in the background – haha!

  11. All clear! πŸ™‚ I understand now. Juggling all the balls and staying sane (ish) and happy are the priorities, Lucile. It’s good to keep tracks and share whenever we can. πŸ™‚

  12. Ah, Lucile (inserting absent heart graphic)
I have thought of you lots and wondered how you were.
I had a little blogging break, but not as long as yours perhaps, and now i seem to be back in full swing. Must be all those Monkey’s around in the Monkey year, just clammering to be heard.
Anyhow I’m so glad to hear from you and hope your busy schedule gets you to post from time to time.
Im still not getting WP notifications, so I finally went to Reader and found you there! I’m glad for that!
Big hug from across the seas πŸ™‚

    • Debbie. I’m truly sorry for my delayed replies. You’re so kind and considerate and I value our friendship very much.
My break has been very long, unusually, and I haven’t yet found my new ‘best’ on the blog land. Maybe the monkeys will help me!
I have a idea about your notifications. Go to your notifications settings and check if you blocked that. I experienced this problem recently and voila, that was the issue. I may have blocked it and was unaware of it.
Huge hug to you! Have a lovely week.

      • How lovely to hear from you Lucile and thank you for your sweet words, it means a lot to me. No need for apologies, we all have to be discerning with time and sometimes blogging just takes up too much of it. i thought i had unblocked the blocked notification – had tried -but obviously something went haywire, as this time, a bout a week ago, i unblocked again and it works!
        hugs back
        Debbie x

What do you think? I'd love to hear it all.
