Just because I love the streets of Amsterdam….
And that’s how the streets of Amsterdam look like. You see cars, trams, people, bikes…but if you love your life, make sure to look right and left for the bikers. No one wears helmets (except for foreigners and race bikers), and not always they will respect the traffic lights.
A tram stop is a fantastic place to see he city inhabitants.
I am joining Lens and Pens by Sally, who hosts each Monday the Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge.

Thanks for visiting!
Such energy and motion captured here, Lucile. Interesting to see what different things people are focused on!

Great street shots, love the moodiness of that first one…whatever was on his mind…?

Thanks Andy! I guess he’s late and running to the metro, because he and the others jumped from the tram and went through the cycle path instead of the sidewalk.

People are a fascinating subject for photography. Especially so in your hands!

Definitely. People are the most amazing creatures on earth. ‘The more I know the less I understand’, said Socrates…so I keep shooting them.

That first shot looks like it should be a band’s album cover. So cool!

That’s so funny! My husband said exactly the same. So, are the two of you going to find a band for my photo? 😉

You just touched on a very interesting aspect – you don’t see smiling and happy faces, unless they’re tourists.

shikes – the disease of the modern age. Australia is like that too now – when i go home, so many unhappy faces. i cant bear to be in shopping centres, the energy is soooo draining. people stuck with their mobile phones in their faces, you say hello to someone and they look at you like you are a lunatic! with only a few exceptions. crazy modern world!

I don’t know if it’s modern age or just a characteristic of the culture in Northern Europe, which is more individualistic. People focus on their own life and don’t stop to talk or look at anyone, except if they’re older. However if you approach them with a smile or say hello, you surely will get a positive reaction. That’s interesting.

i have a theory that climate is linked to people’s characteristics. cold country climates people tend to be more reserved, tropical climates people tend to be more ‘warm’ and friendly.
still i do think it is a sign of the times, with so much individualism embedded into technology.

Awesome. Love these shots. Terri says “energy and motion” above and she is right. I also love the contrast in these shots. Fabulous.
