This challenge has been so much fun! This week is my turn to use my creative juices and make our version of the Cover Makeover.
Desley has just posted last week’s wrap up, sharing an outstanding line up from all participants! It is getting better and better every week. Go and check her blog to see them all.
She also launched the theme for the Cover Makeover #6! This week we go for a book chosen by Desley. And here is the original cover.
Here is my version:
I browsed all former covers of the book and read the book excerpt to get the spirit of the story. I wasn’t sure if I would use a house for the cover. I knew I wanted an image of country side, though. I knew I had photos of honey colored houses, as mentioned in the excerpt, and went looking for them. My trusty memory was right. I found two.
I took this photo while crossing the River Douro in Portugal, while visiting the vineyards of the area. It was a cloudy day, so the photo needed to be improved by LightRoom with minor editing.
I simply added clarity, vibrancy and contrast. Then I edited in PhotoShop to add the text. That was all. These are simple steps that you can take using any app like PicMonkey. Pixrl, etc.
What did you think?
So, now it is your turn to use your imagination and creativity. Would you like to join the challenge? Go there for this week’s instructions! The link is above.

Great work as usual my partner in crime. Fabulous colors and layers in this image, making a wonderful cover that inspires memories of long happy summers by the water.
Can’t wait to see everyone else’s versions!!

I love it. For this challenge, I’m not sure I have a picture of the house I grew up in. I’ll have to come up with other ideas. Someting just came up in my head … 🙂 ing to myself.

I think this came up when I searched the book title to see what other covers were out there.
