It’s Cover Makeover #4! That’s a cool challenge that Desley from Musings of a Frequent Flying Scientist and I have initiated in the Photo Rehab.
Desley and I are very excited with the positive response to this challenge and with the outstanding entries submitted by the participants.
So, ready to go for the next challenge?
Desley suggested some books this time and I have gone for: The Invention of Solitude from Paul Auster. We hope that Andy Townend may like our choice!
In the excerpt we learnt that this book is “Paul Auster’s moving and personal meditation on fatherhood. The first section, ‘Portrait of an Invisible Man’, reveals Auster’s memories and feelings after the death of his father, a distant, undemonstrative, almost cold man. As he attends to his father’s business affairs and sifts through his effects, Auster uncovers a sixty-year-old family murder mystery that sheds light on his father’s elusive character.”
Here is the original cover
And here is my version:
Would you like to join the challenge? Here is how it works.
- Every Thursday we will give you the name of a book or movie, etc. and share with you our take on a new cover.
- You will prepare you own cover by using your archive photos or shooting a new one to go with the theme.
- Prepare your post and publish it. Remember to Ping Back (hyperlink) to this post. You may also copy your link to the comments section of this post.
- Use the tag #PhotoRehabCoverMakeover, so that we can find your post in the WP reader.
Add your photo to the link provided below. In this way, you expose your photo to the other participants and the audience of the Photo Rehab. - If you wish, you can add to your post the badge we made for the challenge (below).
- We will make a weekly wrap up of all the ingenious cover makeovers photos!
Isn’t this a cool challenge?!
Now that you have your theme, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive in.
Read on for details on how I made the cover.
I took this picture in December 2014, while driving in one of those gray and somber days of the Dutch winter. This is the road from Drachten to Amsterdam.
In Lightroom, I converted the image to black and white. I increased exposure, contrast and highlights. Then I brought the image to edit it at Silver Efex Pro 2, applying the High Structure, High Contrast filter.
I saved the image and exported it to the web editor Pick Monkey, and added the text to the image.
Ready to juice up your artistic side?
