The theme of Photo101 today is Landmark. I chose the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. As a national landmark, the Rijksmuseum offers Dutch art and history from the Middle Ages onwards, and also European and Asian art. There you find masterpieces like ‘The Night Watch‘ from Rembrandt and also ‘The Milk Maid’ from Vermeer.
The Rijksmuseum first opened its doors in 1800 in Huis ten Bosch in The Hague. In 1808, the museum moved to the new capital city of Amsterdam, in the Royal Palace on Dam Square. The Rijksmuseum went through a long phase of restoration and you can’t miss a visit whenever you are in Amsterdam.
These photos were taken with an iPhone 5.
I do not know much about paintings but I like the architecture of the museum 🙂

I’ve been to Amsterdam once, but only for a few hours while we were changing planes…
